Except, in these cases, I feel I have very little in common with the other person.<\/p>\n<p>Allow me to elaborate. Both of us have a different background, meet in the same place, and have different ideas of &#8216;social&#8217;. Yet somehow, when we do something together e.g. go out for dinner or to an event, I feel that the differences disappear. And come the next day, we have gone our different ways, and the differences are highly apparent. <\/p>\n<p>A way to know if this happens is if others ask of you, &#8220;How can these two be friends? They&#8217;re so different!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Social interactions are so fluid; I seem to be attracted to people who are fundamentally different to me, yet I shy away from those who I can see elements of myself in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are some friendships that I value highly.
